
Prof. Hong Zhang

Biography: Dr. ZHANG Hong is currently a Chair Professor in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) where he directs "Shenzhen Key Laboratory on Robotics and Computer Vision". His research interests include robotics, autonomous vehicles, computer vision, and image processing. Prior to joining SUSTech, he was a Professor in the Department of Computing Science, University of Alberta, Canada, where he worked for over 30 years. He held an NSERC Industrial Research Chair from 2003-2017, and made significant contributions in robotics research. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of IROS Conference Paper Review Board, a flagship conference of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), from 2020-2022. He is currently serving a three-year term as a member of the Administrative Committee (AdCom) of IEEE RAS (2023-2025). In recognition of his many contributions, Dr. Zhang was elected a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Prof. Shuguang Li

Biography: Dr. Shuguang Li is a professor and the former executive dean at the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology. He received his bachelor's and doctorate degrees from Zhejiang University. He was a visiting scholar and postdoctoral researcher at Princeton University in the United States, and a visiting professor at Hochschule Hannover, Germany. He is the member of the American Physical Society, deputy director trustee of the Teaching Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Association of Automation. Dr. Li was the first batch of directors of the undergraduate program "Robotics Engineering" in Zhejiang Province in 2019. His research interests include automated detection, robotics, optics, quantum precision measurement and sensing technology. As one of the earliest researchers in China, he has been carring out optical magnetometers using extremely weak magnetic field detection and measurement techniques. He has guided students to win the national silver medal and the provincial gold medal in China’s International College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.

Prof. Mo-Yuen Chow

Biography: Mo-Yuen Chow earned his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S., 1982); and Cornell University (M. Eng., 1983; Ph.D., 1987). Dr. Chow has been a Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University since 2022. He is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University. Dr. Chow’s recent research focuses on distributed control, micro-grids and batteries management. He is the Director of the Advanced Diagnosis, Automation, and Control (ADAC) Laboratory and the Director of the Advanced Interdisciplinary Energy Research Center (AIERC) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is an IEEE Life Fellow, the Co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Trans. on Industrial Informatics 2014-2018, Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics 2010-2012. He has received the IEEE Region-3 Biedenbach Outstanding Engineering Educator Award, the IEEE ENCS Outstanding Engineering Educator Award, the IEEE ENCS Service Award, the IEEE IES Hornfeck Service Award, and the IEEE IES Mittelmann Achievement Award. He is a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. Dr. Chow has been consistently listed among Stanford University’s top 2% of scientists worldwide, and top 0.05% Highly Ranked Scholar-Lifetime in the Specialty of smart grid. He has led and contributed to more than 38 government and industry-funded research projects. He holds 10 U.S. patents and has authored 350+ papers in IEEE Transactions and IEEE conferences.

Prof. Pavel Loskot
Zhejiang University, China
Biography: Pavel Loskot joined the ZJU-UIUC Institute in January 2021 as an Associate Professor after 14 years with Swansea University in the UK. He received his PhD degree in Wireless Communications from the University of Alberta in Canada, and the MSc and BSc degrees in Radio electronics and Biomedical Electronics, respectively, from the Czech Technical University of Prague in the Czech Republic. In the past 30 years, he was involved in numerous collaborative research and development projects, and also held a number of paid consultancy contracts with industry. He is Senior Member of the IEEE, Member of the ACM and APSIPA, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK, Recognized Research Supervisor of the UK Council for Graduate Education, and the IARIA 2025 Fellow. His current research interests focus on mathematical and probabilistic modeling, statistical signal processing and machine learning for multi-sensor and longitudinal data
